Movie Plot:
The movie Gulabo Sitabo opens with Mirza (Amitabh Bachchan), a half-bent 78 old grandfatherly figure trying to steal bulb from his tenants at night and selling some cycle parts and the bulbs for pennies.
Amitabh Bachchan as Mirza now looks flawless in his acting and the moment, he enters the screen, and he is all Mirza. He is cunning, sometimes bad-mouthed, selfish, always talking to himself, and creating funny problems for the tenants in their day-to-day life.
The only thing which is consistent to end is his tremendous love for the Fatima Mahal, the haveli he is living into, as shown in the trailer. As the movie progresses his chemistry with Baankey Rastogi (Ayushman Khurana) touches some basic day to day life issues a tenant and owner faces every day.
Ayushman as Baankey Rastogi is now used to play local boy characters with ease. His naturality is tested whenever he shares the screen with Mr. Bachchan, and it will not be hard to say Snr. Bachchan easily succeeds. Ayushman brings the character from Barely Ki Barfi, mixed with some extent of dumbness to a new form when he tries to come in between the love of Mirza and his haveli.
You will easily start falling for this character watching his acts to keep his girlfriend happy and at the same time being the bread earner of the family. His character draws you to succeed with him when he tries to fight against Mirza with tricks to keep his flat, he has been living since birth for mere rent of 30 rupees with him.
Vijay Raaz as Gyanesh Shukla, in his supporting role, has played a government officer. The moment he tells “Hum sarkar hain , humey sab pata hai”, you start believing that this guy as the government officer can create chaos with his one sign and authority. Brijendra Kala as Christopher Clark, Lawyer has a vital role to play in this melodramatic fight for the Haveli.
Farrukh Jafar aka Begum of Mirza is the funniest character and vital. She comes and goes initially to add that fun factor but as the movie progresses her character becomes more important and is the one which keeps the story bonded together with either her or the haveli.
If you are bored with some regular romantic love stories, then certainly Gulabo Sitabo movie is for you. Not so fast paced where each character gets enough time to entertain you. It’s worth watching on a lazy weekend where you don’t have much to do.
Overall, it is also a funny and light-hearted story that keeps you bonded to your seat. With this movie launching on Amazon Prime amid lock-down, it is a fresh story you certainly need to give your mood a change from COVID and the challenges ongoing in the outside world. Watch Gulabo Sitabo movie with your friends and family.
